The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is offering an incredible learning opportunity at the Faculty Development Symposium (FDS), to be held on November 8, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, during the National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
The FDS is designed for diverse graduate students, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, and early career faculty, and will provide skills and resources to help the participants obtain and successfully transition to tenured faculty positions.
Workshops are focused on holistic professional development including funding and teaching strategies, and career planning. Participants will also be able to connect with tenured faculty role models from diverse backgrounds who can provide mentoring and guidance. The SHPE FDS will build a diverse community of engineering faculty and pre-faculty to promote opportunities for faculty positions, postdoctoral positions, and research collaborations.
Qualified applicants will receive financial support for convention registration and travel expenses. In addition, participants receive a SHPE certification, FDS pin, and an invitation to participate in additional conferences throughout the convention. This is a great opportunity to build long lasting professional and social networks.
The funding is provided by the National Science Foundation through this website: https://leveragefaculty.org/event-detail/shpe-fds-2018.
