Loma Lux Laboratories is a leading developer of over-the-counter skin care products for acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Clinically proven, natural remedies.
Plymouth Pharmaceuticals, Inc., along with its division, Loma Lux Laboratories, was developed out of the research and development for a psoriasis treatment at Smith Dermatology Clinic, the medical practice of Steven A. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.P.
For More than a decade, Dr. Smith focused his research on finding a reliable, inexpensive and side-effect-free treatment for psoriasis sufferers. (Psoriasis symptoms include scaly, itchy areas of red plaque, often accompanied by joint pain and disfigured nails.) Traditional treatments for psoriasis were expensive and time consuming, but most disturbing were the adverse side effects. Treatments were also inconsistent-the same treatment would benefit one patient and not another.
Researching the scientific literature available, Dr. Smith focused on trace mineral therapies leading him to tow minerals - bromide and nickel. He found that a combination of these minerals for the treatment of psoriasis had never been tested. After clinically testing the two minerals and extensive patient studies, Dr. Smith was astounded at the curing effect the formula had, and the relief his patents found with the combined use of these minerals.
During the course of his research, Dr. Smith noted that patients weith related conditions, such as eczema, acne, arthritis, and sinus and allergies, also showed substantial improvement. As a result, he expanded his research to include the treatment of these diseases with his unique oral mineral therapies. His research has been published in several medical journals including: Improvement of Psorisis Vulgaris With Oral Nickel Dibromide. Archives of Dermatology may 1997;661-663, and Serum Nickel ConcentrationinPsoriasis Vulgaris. Internat J. Dermatology 1994;33(11):783-785, American Medical Association.
Dr. Smith received his BS in 1975 from Indiana Wesleyan University and his MD in 1979 from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed as Internal Medicine Internship in 1980, an Internal Medicine Residency in 1982, and a Dermatology Residency in 1984 at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio.
He is a certified Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal medicine. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery - and his credentials go on.
